A world-class faculty is the foundation of a world-class university. There are a number of ways your gifts can strengthen Georgia Tech, from nurturing and rewarding early-career professors to attracting and retaining distinguished senior academic leaders.
President's Chairs
The visibility and stature of an appointment to an endowed president's chair is the highest recognition accorded an Institute staff member. Funds for president's chairs are used for highest Institutional priorities.

School Chairs
Dedicated to the incumbent school chair within a specified school, school chairs enhance the ability to attract and retain leading teacher-scholars in this position of academic administration. Chair holders also draw top students and faculty to their school.

Faculty Chairs
Funding for endowed chairs provides the resources to attract and retain preeminent teacher-scholars in specific academic areas. Chair holders draw outstanding students and early-career faculty, stimulate innovative research, and mentor early and mid-career faculty.

Provost's Chair
Funds for provost's chairs are used for highest Institutional priorities and research sponsored by the Office of the Provost.

Center, IRI, and Program Director's Chairs
Dedicated to the academic leader of a center or institute, center chairs enhance the ability to attract leading educators and researchers in this position of academic administration.

Professorships
Endowed professorships and professorships of the practice provide ongoing appointments to attract and retain outstanding associate professors by providing them with the resources to help them take their place among the next generation of faculty leaders. Faculty professorships bridge the gap between early career professorships and the seniority of endowed chairs. Professorships are highly valuable as they provide an opportunity to recognize and retain faculty members at a stage in their careers where peer and aspirational institutions seek to recruit promising faculty away.

Dean's Chairs
Dean's chairs attract and retain leading faculty to this senior position while drawing talented students, junior faculty, and other senior faculty to their college and stimulating innovative research. Endowed chairs are awarded to incumbent deans who are preeminent teacher-scholars in their fields.

Institute Chairs
Institute Chairs are designated by the president where needed campus-wide, and may be reassigned to another college or school when vacated.

Early-Career Professorships
Early-career professorships are given to promising faculty members at the beginning of their careers, usually for a period of three to five years, and provide a major incentive to attract and retain those who will become tomorrow’s leading teacher-scholars. They provide support and flexibility to encourage innovation in teaching and research during the critical pre-tenure years.
